Inspiring Biography of Guru Mann

Guru Mann is a popular fitness YouTuber.

Introduction-

Guru Mann was born on 26 August 1981 into a Punjabi Sikh family in India.

He has a brother and a sister.

Inspired by Salman Khan-

The 16-year-old Guru Mann was skinny and short at 5’8.

His friends used to tease him for being skinny.

As Guru Mann was very active in sports like running and wasn’t getting proper nutrition, he was underweight at 69 kgs and during that time he was studying in the school.

In 1998, he watched the Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya film and was impressed by the physique of Salman Khan in the O Oh Jaane Jana song.

And from the next day of watching this movie, Guru Mann joined a gym and started working out.

On & off-

After working out for a couple of months, as Guru Mann didn’t notice any difference, he quit the gym.

Likewise, a couple of times, he joined the gym and quit.

In 2000, Guru Mann re-joined the gym and luckily, this time he gained a kg of weight.

But he wasn’t getting the expected results due to poor nutrition.

Inspired by Arnold Schwarzenegger-

In the 2000 summer, Guru Mann purchased a Muscle & Fitness magazine and he got inspired by the pictures of Arnold Schwarzenegger in it.

Later, he purchased a few subsequent editions of this magazine and researched the diet plans mentioned in them.

As Guru Mann wasn’t able to get the diet mentioned in the magazines, he substituted them with the equivalent Indian food.

Thanks to the good nutrition, within a period of six months, he gained the optimum weight and his height also increased to 6’1.

Education-

Later, Guru Mann along with his family moved to the United States.

He wanted to turn his passion for fitness into his profession.

So, Guru Mann focused his education related to fitness.

He studied Health & Fitness from the International Sports Sciences Association and became a Strength & Conditioning Specialist and Certified Sports Nutritionist.

Then, Guru Mann studied Health & Wellness from American Sports and Fitness Association and became a Certified Advanced Fitness Trainer and Certified Nutrition Consultant.

Later, he received a Fitness Trainer Certification from National Academy of Sports Medicine. He also became a Fitness Nutrition Specialist.

Guru Mann is also an ACE certified trainer.

In 2011, he joined the California State University, East Bay to study for a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Kinesiology/Biomechanics.

Career-

In 2001, Guru Mann wanted to make a career in fitness modelling but he got his first assignment only in 2004.

Later, he also did ramp modelling, still modelling and worked as a personal fitness trainer, etc.

Missing a chance to work at Apple-

In 2008, his father wasn’t happy with him working as a fitness trainer and so, Guru Mann applied for a job of QA Tester at Apple.

But as he didn’t get any response, he once again applied in 2009 and 2010 and meanwhile, he continued working as a fitness trainer.

Finally, in 2012, Guru Mann received a response from the recruiter but during that time, he was in Mumbai, India for his mission India fit so, he couldn’t respond to him on time.

And he lost an opportunity to work with Apple.

Mission India fit-

In 2010, prior to a photoshoot, Guru Mann was warming up shirtless in a gym.

A white woman approached him and appreciated his physique and told that she had never seen an Indian except him to be fit.

Then, Guru Mann started researching about the fitness of Indians and was shocked to learn that the majority of Indians were unfit.

He also researched by contacting the World Health Organization and by visiting India.

Guru Mann was saddened about the lack of fitness in Indians and also by the fact that many Indians were suffering from diabetes, heart diseases, obesity, etc.

So, in 2010, he took up the Mission India Fit with the aim of making Indians fit and healthy.

Working hard-

In 2011, Guru Mann along with Eros International launched a fitness DVD by the name, Heat 60.

During that time, it became one of the highest selling fitness DVDs in India.

Guru Mann also added many free programs on his website.

He requested the help of Indian gyms, central and state government employees, fitness enthusiasts, etc. for Mission India Fit but everyone dismissed him.

Then, in 2013, Guru Mann approached T-Series and fortunately, T-Series agreed to work with him.

YouTube channels-

On 7 October 2013, Guru Mann started Health And Fitness YouTube channel and on this channel, he is working along with T-Series.

He also has other YouTube channels namely, Guru Mann Fitness, GM Nutrition and Zia Mann.

As of January 2022, Guru Mann has more than 2 million subscribers on Health And Fitness and Guru Mann Fitness YouTube channels.

He is self-employed and he is also the founder of GM Nutrition, MIFI, GM Films, G Outfits and GMN Force.

Personal life-

Guru Mann is married to Harman Mann.

They have a daughter, Zia Mann.

He was a big fan of cricket but as he is living in the United States, his favourite sport is basketball.

Guru Mann was initially living in El Dorado Hills, California but later moved to San Francisco.
