‘DIY Perks’-
Matt started his YouTube channel, ‘DIY Perks,’ on 8 February 2012; at the time, he was studying in school.
He started his channel just to record his projects and he used to work from his tiny room of 2½ by 3 metres.
It was a constant struggle for Matt to work from his tiny room which at that time served as his workshop, studio and store room and likewise, he worked there for five years and then, moved to a bigger place.
Initially, as he had only a few tools, consisting of just a coping saw, drill, saw and a few chisels, he used to build simple things with materials like cardboard and sponge but over the time, he started building complex electronic gadgets like a concrete Bluetooth speaker, water-cooled PCs, submarine, etc.
Even after gaining a substantial number of subscribers, Matt intentionally uses a minimal number of tools, so that people could easily replicate his projects.
Becoming a full-time YouTuber-
Right after finishing his school, Matt became a full-time YouTuber and by that time, his channel was performing well and he started earning from it.
Even though he didn’t receive any formal education related to electronics, he learnt a great deal about electronics by reading websites and experimenting and through trials and errors.
As Matt has to build the products himself and simultaneously film them, these processes are time intensive and thanks to this, it takes him around a month (sometimes a few months) to publish a video onto his YouTube channel.
