Carolyn (Doodle On A Motorcycle)

Carolyn is a rider and a popular YouTuber.

She has more than 140 thousand subscribers on her YouTube channel by the name Doodle On A Motorcycle.

Introduction-

Carolyn was born on 27 July 1989 to Dominican parents in the United States.

She has West African countries, Spain, Portugal, European, Middle Eastern countries ethnicities and indigenous ethnicities from Central America, Haiti, and Dominican Republic.

As Carolyn’s father worked in international relations in the international department of a company, as a kid, she along with her family lived in Brazil, Spain, London, Dominican Republic, and the United States.

She has a sister and she is a political science major.

Education & career-

Carolyn studied design at college.

She was a Jujutsu instructor and worked as a full-time contractor as a designer.

Then, Carolyn secured a job in the design industry which she later quit for becoming a full-time YouTuber.

Love for motorcycles-

Once, Carolyn rode as a pillion rider on the back of a motorcycle and did not like the experience as she felt it dangerous as she was overly exposed and did not have much control and decided to stay away from motorcycles.

But in 2015, she underwent a breakup and at that time, she was feeling adventurous and so decided to learn to ride motorcycles and then, move on with her life.

In November 2015, Carolyn took a 2-day Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) course to learn riding and thanks to this, she fell in love with riding and decided to be a rider all her life.

A month later, she bought herself a used white Suzuki Boulevard S40.

In Carolyn’s first year of riding, she did many safety courses including basic and advanced MSF course, slow speed skills course in Atlanta and thanks to all these, she became a very skilled rider on her bike.

Later, she took Jerry Palladino’s courses, trail riding and dirt bike classes and she did repeats of many of these courses.

Carolyn also trained with Jocelin Snow.

Her YouTube channel-

Carolyn started riding motorcycles in 2016 and at that time, she did not know a lot of riders and was itching to share her hobby of riding with others.

As she watched a lot of motorcycling videos on YouTube, she decided to start her own YouTube channel and share her hobby through it.

So, on 30 May 2016, Carolyn started her YouTube channel by the name Doodle On A Motorcycle.

On 4 June 2016, she published her first video titled ‘THINKING OF GETTING A MOTORCYCLE? How I got my first bike’.

At that time, her channel was an accountability partner for her as she felt that it would help to keep her hobby of motorcycling alive.

The story behind ‘Doodle On A Motorcycle’-

Carolyn was nicknamed ‘doodle’ while working as a graphic designer for her martial arts instructor at her school.

Thereafter, everyone at her school started calling her doodle and the name stuck.

While thinking of naming her YouTube channel, Carolyn did not want to name it after her as she knew many old women by the name Carolyn.

Also, she wanted to include the word motorcycle in the name of her YouTube channel and so, she named her channel as ‘Doodle On A Motorcycle’.

Quitting her job to become a full-time YouTuber-

While working as a designer, even though Carolyn loved her job, she started feeling frustrated and exhausted and did not like working under a boss.

At that time, riding motorcycles was an escape for her from her office work.

In 2020, Carolyn developed a passion for producing videos and started dedicating long hours to it but was unable to earn more than a couple thousand dollars a year.

At that time, she realised that she had two options, either to stop working on YouTube and start focusing on more “responsible” things or figure out how to earn a sustainable income from her channel.

Carolyn chose the latter and as she was unfulfilled with her job, she decided to become a full-time YouTuber and become her own boss.

Up until that point, her YouTube channel was just a hobby for her and she started working seriously on her channel.

Carolyn also undertook training to make YouTube a sustainable business from Video Creators, founded by Tim Schmoyer.

She also took Derral Eves’ course and she recommends his book ‘The YouTube Formula’.

In November 2020, Carolyn was about to quit her job to become a full-time YouTuber as her YouTube earnings were equal to her job’s salary.

But her job countered and she was offered a week off every month to work on YouTube while keeping her job.

Carolyn accepted this offer but seven months later, she felt that her YouTube channel demanded much of her time, so she completely quit her office job and became a full-time YouTuber.

A successful YouTuber-

As of March 2023, Carolyn has 143K subscribers on her YouTube channel and 54K followers on Instagram.

She earns from a variety of sources like advertisements, ‘Super Thanks’ and Membership on her YouTube channel, affiliate marketing, sponsorships and she also accepts donations on Patreon and PayPal.

Carolyn also started a real estate business in 2021.

She has a website.

Carolyn films her videos with Sony ZV-1F, Insta360 X3, GoPro HERO7 cameras, and iPhone 11 and edits her videos with iMovie.

Personal life-

Carolyn got married to Cody in 2020.

Cody loves riding dirt bikes.

Carolyn is 5’ 3.75” tall.

She lives in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.

Some interesting facts about Carolyn-

She loves solo riding and quiet exhaust.
Carolyn is the only one and the first person in her family to ride motorcycles.
After Suzuki Boulevard S40, she bought a Triumph Bonneville T100 in May 2017 and then Triumph Street Triple R in March 2018. In March 2023, she sold her Triumph Street Triple R and bought a Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro.
Thanks to her Suzuki Boulevard S40, she thought that she would be a cruiser girl forever but this changed when one of her friends offered her to ride a Triumph Street Triple R and since then, Triumph motorcycles has been her favourite.
Contrary to the cruiser motorcycles, Carolyn loves the nimbleness of the sports bikes.
Jonna Jinton is her favourite YouTuber.
As a toddler, Carolyn along with her family lived in Brazil and her first language was Portuguese but she forgot it after growing up.
In addition to riding motorcycles, her hobbies are jiu-jitsu and scuba diving with marine animals.
