Austin Evans

Austin Evans is one of the most popular and successful tech YouTubers.

He has more than five million subscribers on his YouTuber channel, Austin Evans.

Introduction-

Austin Evans was born on 22 August 1992 and hails from Los Angeles, California, United States.

At the age of 6, he got his first Game Boy Color and from that time onwards, he started developing interest in technology.

A nerdy kid-

Austin was a nerdy kid in school and used to sneak his Game Boy to the playground to play the Pokémon game with his friends.

Pokémon was the first video game that he played and he became obsessed with it.

Apart from video games, Austin also loved writing stories.

Being bullied-

As Austin was shorter than his classmates, Mike, one of his classmates started bullying him.

Once, during a recess, Mike taunted him by calling him short and Austin lost his temper and he responded by calling him big and dumb.

Mike got angry and started chasing him and as he had nowhere to go, he ran and climbed up the jungle gym where he got trapped.

While Austin was stuck in the jungle gym, Mike climbed up the jungle gym and threw him off from there onto the gravel below.

Thankfully, he wasn’t hurt.

One of his teachers observed all this fight and when she approached them, both of them pretended as if nothing had happened.

But she wasn’t convinced and complained about this incident to Austin’s mother.

And this prompted her mother to drop him out of the school.

During that time, Austin was 10.

Getting home schooled-

Austin’s mom started home schooling him but he didn’t like it because he was missing his school friends.

But the silver lining was that he was left with ample time to write stories and later, focus on his YouTube channels.

Every afternoon, after completing his schoolwork, Austin used to write stories for many hours and filled many notebooks with his stories.

Later, he started writing stories on his family’s old computer which didn’t have an internet connection.

During that time, Austin dreamt of growing up to become a writer.

Making videos-

From a young age, Austin has been very interested in creating videos.

As a child, he and his brother used to create machinimas with a video editor on his old computer.

Internet & Duncan-

After a few years, Austin got an internet connection and this enabled him to connect with other story writers from all across the world.

During that time, he also created a YouTube account with the username, Duncan33303.

Later, Austin also used this username for his Twitter and Instagram accounts.

He chose Duncan33303 instead of his name so as to stay anonymous.

Becoming a YouTuber-

Once while Austin was helping one of his friends to create a website, his friend convinced him to publish some videos on his YouTube channel.

So, he started publishing videos on his YouTube channel.

At that time, Austin stopped writing stories and instead started narrating his stories onto his YouTube channel.

He liked the process of creating and publishing videos.

After a while, one of his friends introduced Austin to tech videos and as he already was a tech enthusiast, he started creating and publishing tech videos onto his channel.

In the initial six months, he didn’t have a camera, so he used to create videos with screenshots and voiceovers.

Starting Austin Evans-

After working on his channel for a couple of years and acquiring around a thousand subscribers, Austin grew uncomfortable with the name of his YouTube channel, Duncan33303.

Also, he didn’t like people and brands referring to him by this strange name.

So, Austin deleted his Duncan33303 YouTube channel and started another YouTube channel by the name, Austin Evans on 5 August 2007.

Working hard-

Austin was 16 when he started his second YouTube channel.

At that time, he didn’t have a lot of free time and he wasn’t earning anything from his channel and wasn’t getting decent views on his videos but he took the time out to create videos.

Austin persisted only because he loved the process of creating videos and sharing them with the world.

His first viral video-

Austin’s first video to get viral was titled- iPhone 5 vs Galaxy S3 Speed Test!

It was published on 22 September 2012 and as Mashable covered this video, it got really popular and got 500,000 views on the first day itself.

Becoming a full-time YouTuber-

Initially, Austin got rejected for the YouTube Partner Program but thankfully, he got accepted into this in his second attempt.

He got accepted into this program after a year of starting his YouTube channel and publishing more than a hundred videos.

After getting accepted into the YouTube Partner Program, Austin proudly announced to his parents that he secured his first job as a YouTuber.

He didn’t attend college as he set his career on YouTube.

His most favourite thing-

Austin’s favourite thing is to discover cool tech products and make videos on them.

He made a huge playlist on these videos which he named as Mystery Tech.
