Ankita Sharma is a famous IPS officer.

She secured an all India rank of 203 in the UPSC CSE 2017.

Ankita Sharma cracked the Civil Services Examination (CSE) despite being a busy housewife and she didn’t give up even when she couldn’t crack the CSE in her first two attempts.

All these factors make her life story very inspiring.

Introduction-

Ankita Sharma was born on 26 June in Durg city in Chhattisgarh.

She grew up in Durg.

Her father, Rakesh Sharma is a businessman.

Her mother, Savita Sharma is a housewife.

Ankita Sharma has three sisters.

Growing up as a tomboy-

Both her parents raised Ankita Sharma as a tomboy.

Also, she mainly grew up with her brothers and this also made her a tomboy.

Inspired by Kiran Bedi-

In her childhood, her mother inspired Ankita Sharma to grow up to become an officer like Kiran Bedi.

So, even as a child, she was very clear about her future that she would grow up to become an officer.

Schooling-

Ankita Sharma did her schooling from St. Xavier’s High School, Durg and studied in the ICSE board.

In her 9th grade, she chose to study commerce.

Ankita Sharma started studying well from her 9th standard and prior to this, she was an average student.

She has always been a topper since her 9th grade.

In her 11th and 12th standards, Ankita Sharma was even more determined to grow up to become an officer.

After completing the 12th class all her friends were applying for the Chartered Accountant (CA) course but she didn’t as she wanted to prepare for the Civil Services.

College education-

Later, Ankita Sharma joined St. Thomas College, Bhilai in Chhattisgarh to study B.Com.

After completing her B.Com in 2010, she joined Shri Shankaracharya college in Bhilai to study MBA in Finance and HRM.

Ankita Sharma passed out in 2012 and was a gold medalist in her post graduation.

Preparing for Civil Services-

After completing her MBA, Ankita Sharma started preparing for the Civil Services.

Initially, she studied from her home but later, went to Delhi to prepare for the Civil Services.

After studying in Delhi for around six months, Ankita Sharma realised that she isn’t utilising the best of her time in Delhi and so, she returned to her home and continued her preparation from her home.

She self studied for the Civil Services.

Getting married-

In 2016, Ankita Sharma got married to Vivekanand Shukla.

Theirs is an arranged marriage and Vivekanand Shukla works as an Army Major.

He used to frequently get transferred to different places of the country and Ankita Sharma too used to accompany him but she didn’t give up her dream of becoming an IPS officer.

Her husband supported her very much.

Serious preparation-

Ankita Sharma didn’t get much time to prepare for the Civil Services Exam as she became a busy housewife.

She used to prepare for the exam just two months prior to it.

During those months, Ankita Sharma used to focus only on studying and used to study with unwavered concentration.

Attempts-

In her first attempt at the Civil Services Exam, Ankita Sharma didn’t clear the Main exam.

In her second attempt, she wasn’t able to clear the Prelims.

Thankfully, in 2017, in her third attempt Ankita Sharma cleared the Civil Services Exam and secured a rank of 203.

One of her hobbies is writing poems and the interview board got very impressed by her when she recited a poem.

Roles-

Ankita Sharma belongs to the IPS 2018 batch and was allocated the Chhattisgarh Cadre.

Initially, she was posted as the SHO of Bhatapara and then, served as the IPS (P) of Baloda Bazar-Bhatapara.

Later, Ankita Sharma became the City Superintendent of Police Azaad Chowk, Raipur.

As of June 2021, she is serving as the ASP of the Bastar district.

As an officer, Ankita Sharma’s interests are women empowerment and serving the children.

Many firsts-

Ankita Sharma is the first lady IPS officer of Chhattisgarh.

Also, she is the first woman to lead the Republic Day parade of Chhattisgarh.

Ankita Sharma served as a parade commander on 26 January 2020.

Previously, she was also a commander at the National Police Academy.

Providing the Civil Services coaching-

When Ankita Sharma was preparing for the Civil Services, no one was there to coach her and this made her realise the importance of coaching.

So, she started providing coaching for the Civil Services aspirants.

Every Sunday Ankita Sharma teaches from 11 AM to 1 PM and she connects with the students through social media.

  • Ankita Sharma was awarded Indra Bhushan Award by the DGP of Chhattisgarh for busting a drugs racket. This operation was named “Operation Clean”.
  • Thanks to all her achievements, she is considered a youth icon in Chhattisgarh.
  • Ankita Sharma’s hobbies are reading books, dancing, travelling, solo driving in bike and car and playing sports.
  • She loves playing sports and plays many sports like badminton, basketball, tennis, cricket, squash, etc.
  • Ankita Sharma is a fan of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
  • Her future plan is to study law and help the needy people.
