Introduction-

Elizabeth Filips was born in August 1996, and hails from London, England, United Kingdom.

She has siblings.

At a young age, Elizabeth wanted to grow up to become an artist, and a theatre actress.

At the time, she did a lot of acting, especially theatre acting, without any stage fright, and was also interested in philosophy, and literature.

Later, Elizabeth wanted to study physics, and philosophy and wanted to become an astrophysicist, and a science communicator.

Love for art-

From a young age, Elizabeth was attracted to famous paintings, and wanted to own them.

But as her family was not wealthy, she could not afford the paintings, and as a substitute for this, her mother used to buy her cheap canvases and paints, with which she used to copy the famous paintings.

Elizabeth has no formal training in painting, and her initial paintings were not impressive, but she eventually improved over the years with practice.

The Starry Night’ by Vincent van Gogh is her favourite painting, and she painted a copy of it.

Studying medicine-

In 2014, while in high school, Elizabeth applied to study medicine from King’s College London, and got accepted.

But she deferred joining the medical school for three years, during which she worked to save money to study medicine.

Elizabeth did various jobs which included working as a waitress, working in customer service, etc.

Finally, in 2018, at 23, she joined King’s College London, to study medicine.

In her first year of college, Elizabeth worked in a couple of part-time jobs, in her second year, she did five jobs, and in her third year, she worked in three jobs, and working in these many jobs allowed her to pay for her food, travels, and live in London.

Working for Ali Abdaal-

Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, Elizabeth had to quit her job at Selfridges, and at the time, Ali Abdaal, a popular YouTuber, announced a job role for a Personal Assistant (PA) on Instagram.

She applied for the job and secured it.

After working as a PA for Ali for around over a year, Elizabeth moved on to another job in his team.

In July 2021, at the end of her third year at college, Elizabeth took a gap year, and worked as a strategy consultant, and did one-on-one coaching.

Later, Elizabeth resumed studying at medical school.

Struggle to start a YouTube channel-

In 2015 itself, Elizabeth had planned to start her YouTube channel, but she completely forgot about it.

Later, she got interested in video editing and was inspired by the video editing skills, and creativity of few YouTubers, and wanted to start her channel but as she was diffident, she refrained herself from starting a YouTube channel.

Then, as Elizabeth started working for Ali, she had a chance to read his emails, and got inspired on reading the thank-you notes written by people of all walks of life, thanking Ali for his videos.

This time also, she wanted to start her YouTube channel but did not, due to the lack of confidence.

Later, Elizabeth joined Ali Abdaal’s Part-Time Youtuber Academy, she was a first batch student of this academy.

Here, Ali exhorted her to start her YouTube channel.

This time around, Elizabeth strongly wanted to start her channel as she was inspired by observing many older people starting their channels despite their insecurities, and she also believed that having a channel would help her in her job in the academy.

So, on 13 November 2020, she started her eponymous YouTube channel.

Elizabeth started working on her channel with her iPhone, and a Blue Yeti microphone and acquired 2000 subscribers on her channel while working on her iPhone.

After four months of working on her channel, she got gifted a Canon EOS M50 camera, and she started using it along with her Blue Yeti microphone.

In her gap year at college, Elizabeth started seriously working on her YouTube channel, launched a couple of newsletters (The Pensieve, and Strong Opinions, Loosely Held), a podcast YouTube channel, and started working on her course.

A successful YouTuber-

On 31 January 2021, Elizabeth published a video, ‘A Day in the Life of Ali Abdaal’s Personal Assistant’, which became viral, and thanks to this video, her channel blew up.

As of November 2023, she has 897K subscribers on her eponymous YouTube channel and has 66.8K followers on Instagram.

Elizabeth earns from a variety of sources, advertisements, and ‘Super Thanks’ on her YouTube channel, affiliate marketing, and accepts donations on Patreon.

She published an e-book, ‘Organised Chaos.’

Elizabeth has a website, a newsletter, and a second YouTube channel, for her podcasts, ‘Feelosophy with Elizabeth Filips.

Awesome research! Interesting that Elizabeth, while being so much more engaging, educational and exciting than Ali Abdaal, had so much doubt about starting her own YouTube channel.
